EverCover Certificate – Your Giant Leap Towards Sustainable Building in Europe

Innofor has been involved in developing a new forest management standard. The EverCover Certificate is based on continuous cover forestry (CCF), a method that avoids clear-cutting and enhances forest biodiversity.

Summary

Sustainability: EverCover is a verified supply chain solution and forest management standard guaranteeing clear-cut-free timber, which supports Continuous Cover Forestry and enhances biodiversity across Europe

Immediate Offset: EverCover Matching (ECM) is a flexible solution for instant environmental offsetting. Use ECM to instantly balance your project's environmental impact.

Full Traceability: With EverCover Direct (ECD), you can trace the wood’s origin from the forest straight to your site. ECD is the highest standard for full Chain of Custody (CoC) verification.

Compliance: Meet the toughest corporate responsibility targets with transparent, verifiable sourcing. This enables companies to meet strict ESG and compliance targets.

The EverCover Certificate guarantees the timber buyer that the wood does not originate from clear-cut forests. Innofor acts as the group certification administrator and service provider for forests in Finland.

Matching: Effortlessly Offset Your Project’s Impact

EverCover Matching (ECM) means that the same amount of EverCover certified wood is introduced to the market as is used there. This allows you to easily and immediately offset the impact of your project.

How ECM works for your supply chain:

  1. The forest owner freely sells their EverCover-certified timber on the open market.
  2. Your company or the construction company you’re using then uses the volume specified in the ECM certificate to account for the sustainable sourcing in your building project.

While your purchase doesn't necessarily have to be the original EverCover certified wood, the environmental impact is offset because an equivalent volume has been harvested from a clear-cut-free EverCover forest. Crucially, the forest behind the offsetting is always known and traceable, meaning its existence and contribution to biodiversity can be physically verified.

Direct: Full Traceability and Chain of Custody

EverCover Direct (ECD) offers the highest level of transparency by sourcing wood exclusively from EC-certified forests. ECD wood also guarantees the complete traceability of the wood from the forest all the way to the final product. This is known as the Chain of Custody.

ECD means maximum transparency:

  • The original location of every timber batch is known
  • The entire processing chain is documented
  • The wood is not mixed with other wood raw materials at any stage

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is EverCover certified timber readily available for projects throughout Europe?
A: Yes, it is readily available throughout Europe. The ECM model ensures the volume required for your project can be immediately offset, regardless of your location, for swift project commencement.

Q: How does the certificate verify sustainability for our project?
A: The EverCover certificate verifies sustainability through a three-step process: it confirms that an equivalent wood volume has been harvested using Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF) methods; it ensures the wood originates from a known, traceable EverCover forest; and it guarantees that this forest's contribution to biodiversity is physically verifiable through auditing.

Q: If we choose ECD, what is the delivery radius?
A: We coordinate with our network of certified regional processors to ensure full Chain of Custody (CoC) wood is delivered efficiently to major construction hubs across Europe.

Q: What is the difference between EverCover Matching (ECM) and EverCover Direct (ECD)?A: ECM is a volume-based matching system that allows your project to immediately offset its environmental impact by funding equivalent certified sustainable harvesting. ECD is the premium option that guarantees physical Chain of Custody for your specific timber, providing complete traceability from the certified forest to your final product.

Q: How does CCF (Continuous Cover Forestry) support biodiversity?
A: CCF avoids the large-scale disruption of clear-cutting, maintaining the forest floor and habitat stability, which directly supports species diversity.
